My 6 Favorite Quotes About Creativity

“Creativity is contagious, pass it on.” – Albert Einstein

“You can’t use up creativity.  The more you use the more you have.” – Maya Angelou

“The creative adult is the child who survived.” – Ursula Leguin

“Don’t think.  Thinking is the enemy of creativity.  It’s self-conscious, and anything self-conscious is lousy.  You can’t try to do things.  You simply must do things.” – Ray Bradbury

“You see things; and you say, ‘Why?’  But I dream things that never were; and I say, ‘Why not’?” – George Bernard Shaw.  This one is a personal favorite of mine because I’m a big fan of replacing the question ‘Why?’ with ‘Why not?’ whenever contemplating a decision.

“Everything you can imagine is real.” – Pablo Picasso.  And this one is my personal favorite of the bunch because it ties in with what I think is one of the greatest quotes of all time, from J.K. Rowling through Albus Dumbledore himself: Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?”

Happy Wednesday everyone.  Have an incredible, wondrous, creative day.

  3. They’re great 😊

  4. I like the blog, but especially the Rawling quote at the end,

  5. All excellent choices.

  6. Great quotes! I especially like the one by Bradbury.

    • Me too – especially during the creative process, I try to go crazy and write down anything that pops up before I can analyze it too much. Sometimes the ideas that I would ordinarily shoot down as crazy end up being the best ones
